Film: Daughter of the king

Intro

James River Church, a megachurch located in Southwest Missouri, needed a story-driven film to play at their women’s conference, Designed For Life.

Challenge

James River was looking for a compelling and authentic testimony video that would inspire the faith of the other women at the conference. They planned to present the video on the big screens during their conference.

Approach

Our goal in producing Kila’s testimony was to share her authentic story in a very personal and relatable way. We achieved this by initially conducting a pre-interview with Kila to write out the storyline. We chose to film an interview with Kila and edited it with cinematic footage that represented different events in her journey.

To hook the audience, we started the film with shots of Kila out in the woods hunting with her bow, dressed head to toe in camouflage. We also filmed a scene where she’s looking through old photos, talking to the camera and showing us some photos of her childhood. This scene gave it a very personal touch and also served as a perfect transition between talking about her upbringing to the hurtful things she experienced as a child.

Results

The film was shown at a women’s conference called Designed For Life where there were over 10,000 in attendance. Additionally, the reach spread to live TV and online expanding the reach to over 20,000 people. The story made a big emotional impact on people and received a lot of great feedback, including many comments about it inspiring people’s faith!
